Rutland County Audubon - spring 2017

April 29 (Saturday) - Big Trees of Vermont

A follow-up walk to the Big Trees of Vermont program on March 28. A walk with retired forester Gary Salmon at Gifford Woods State Park in Killington (it is not necessary to attend both events). 10 AM. Park at the winter parking area on Rte 100 south of the main gate. Contact birding@rutlandcountyaudubon.org.

May 6 (Saturday) - Green Up Day at West Rutland Marsh

Join RCAS and other community volunteers as we work to clean up our favorite birding hotspot, West Rutland Marsh, on the 47th annual Green Up Vermont Day. Meet at the West Rutland Town Hall at 9 AM. Work gloves and boots or old shoes recommended. Bags provided.

May 18 (Thursday) - West Rutland Marsh Monitoring Walk

A monthly bird monitoring walk. To date 151 species, from Least Bittern to Northern Shrike, have been recorded at this Important Bird Area (IBA). Join us for the 3.7 mile loop around the marsh (dirt and paved roads) or go halfway. This month's walk is being held in conjunction with the Great Backyard Bird Count. Meet at the West Rutland Price Chopper parking lot at 7 AM (note: change from 8 AM). Contact birding@rutlandcountyaudubon.org

May 18 (Thursday) - RCAS Board of Directors Meeting

May 20 (Saturday) - Century Count XXII

Our annual attempt to count 100 or more species at birding hotspots throughout Rutland County. Go for the full day or for part. Bring lunch. Meet at the West Rutland Price Chopper parking lot at 6 AM. birding@rutlandcountyaudubon.org.

May 26 -28 (Friday - Sunday) - Our Natural World in Art

RCAS's first wildlife art show! Opening reception, Friday, May 26, 5 PM to 8 PM, gallery hours Saturday-Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM, Stone Valley Arts, 145 E. Main St., Poultney. Exhibit will be open to the public the following two weekends as well. Check below for hours. The exhibit will feature local artists, both professional and non-professional in several mediums.
